When children feel connected, they can move forward to confidently achieve academic success.

At Rumsey, we emphasize the importance of seeking and maintaining meaningful relationships in classrooms, athletic teams, dorms, and throughout our service-learning programs. For example, our survey-style lessons in social-emotional learning target conversation at each intersection of personal, community, family, and peer group values.

Play is an essential component to of the Rumsey Hall program. Beginning in early childhood, the primary path to learning about others and building relationships is through active engagement or play. With ample opportunity to practice using their voices and influence they have on others or others have on them, Rumsey students learn to understand their emotions and react thoughtfully.
